The front gardens are looking the best that they've ever looked. Some of the plants were in place when we moved here, some were moved, some are new. the Hollyhocks that I imagined in the front of the front windows are finally thick enough to be a presence. The few evergreen that I planted two years ago are now looking healthy and happy.
The border of Japanese Iris, lavender, and _______ is finally coming into its own. And brushing against the lavender releases its perfume. The hollyhocks must have been in bloom when David died. I have no memory of it at all. Friends hired someone to come in and clean up the garden just before David's memorial. I know it looked better cleaned up than after weeks of neglect, but that is all I have in my mind's eye.
