At school today, the kids are supposed to come in dressed as their favorite book character. Julia went in as Martina the Beautiful Cockroach. This is one of her favorite books and the chance to dress like Martina was not to be missed.
However, any resemblance between Julia and Martina is rather purely coincidental! Martina wears a comb and a mantilla, and she carries a delicate Spanish fan. Julia is wearing a princess crown, a short ballerina tutu on her head, and she is carrying a Chinese fan. I love it! It reminds me so much of the year that Cheshire wanted to dress up as a southern bell for halloween. She picked out the pattern for the costume that she wanted, picked out the color and the material, and also the Chinese umbrella that she would carry. She looked more like a bridesmaid than a southern bell but she loved the costume. Julia is no different.
